Our online journey has been an interesting one. I appreciate so much how many students are coming to our morning meeting and turning their work in. We are still missing some assignments from some of our friends though, so I ask that you take some time to look over your child's work today and see if they are caught up.
In Science - Grade 4s have been focused on learning about different types of gears and how gears work. Today they are working on gear ratios before creating their own gear trains to bring back to school on Tuesday (we hope). Grade 3s have been learning about how a bridge carries a load, including learning about different types of bridges. Today they were given a task to build a bridge that spans a gap of at least 30 cm. I ask that they have these bridges ready to bring to school to be tested on Tuesday May 25.
In Math - All students have been working on the concepts of perimeter and area, measurement in cm, and subtraction review. Grade 4s have also been introduced to converting cm to mm.
In LA students have been practicing annotation skills in their Science readings. They are also working on story writing this week. Last week's story was about a true event without a problem. This week they are working on writing a story with a problem and solution.
We are hopeful that we will return to school on Tuesday May 25.
