In LA today we worked on a reading comprehension activity.  We each got a reading at our own level with some associated questions.  We used highlighters to show where we found the answer in our reading.

In math, we worked on fractions of a set.  We watched a video and did some practice work.  We also got to complete some assignments on Mathletics today, and Mrs. P showed us a fun fraction game that is kind of like Angry Birds.

We had Music today.

In Social Studies we learned a bit more about the connection between Alberta and the Fossil record.  We also learned about the Royal Tyrell Museum.

Our Pillars of Care assembly will be held virtually tomorrow morning (in school only).

Welcome back!  After a long 5 days off it was nice to see so many smiling faces today.

In LA today we worked on paragraph writing using the first, then, next, last format.

In math, we investigated fractions in a set of items.  Then we got to use paint and q-tips to make dots in many colours and write the fraction of the set represented by each colour.

In Social Studies, we completed an assignment in our Google Classroom about fossils in Alberta.  We have decided to use GC once a week to complete a task in order to save paper (as discussed in our Science unit).

In Math, we started learning about fractions today.  Ask your child if they remember what a fraction is. (part of a whole)

In Science, we watched a video called "The Story of Stuff" which helped us understand why it is a problem to have so much new stuff all the time.

In a teachable moment about irony, students were also given their book order forms today.

In Math, we played a basic facts game that had us matching pieces of our broken hearts. Ask your child how it went.

In Science, we learned how our heart works and how we can take the best care of ourselves to keep our hearts healthy.  We did some extra walking today to support our heart health.

This week we have been working on writing stories.  We revisited our rubric, and looked at examples of a 1, 2, and 3/4 for writing.  We then had a picture to look at to base our stories off of.  We also worked on editing and creating a second draft of our stories today.

In Math, we worked on division.  We played a recall game, and then worked with counters to solve some division questions.

We learned about Alma Thomas today.  She was the first black artist to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney.  She was 80 years old at the time of her show!  She was also the first person to graduate with a fine arts degree from Howard University.  We created our own Alma Thomas inspired art work using paint.
