I am away this week as I am not well.  Sadly I will have to miss being at school for the whole week.

I am still regularly checking my email and am in contact with the guest teachers, so if there is anything you need from me, please let me know.

This week students are continuing to become comfortable with multiplying a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number.

We are working on adding details to our writing through the use of similes. 

We are continuing to learn about the needs of plants, including completing some research about carnivorous plants.

In social studies the students are learning about the similarities and differences between the Blackfoot and Cree peoples of Alberta.

 Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today we got to go on our coding program again in the morning.

We had Music, and Gym in the morning too, so we had some time to catch up on our story writing and math work in the afternoon.

We have started learning about the needs of plants.

Thank you to parents who signed up for a spot during our online conferences.  It was lovely to see many of you and discuss your child's progress.

Today we worked on planning and beginning to write a story based on a picture supplied by Mrs. P.  Most of our stories are about building a leprechaun trap.

We did not get to have music today due to a shortage of teachers.  We look forward to our music class on Thursday.

In science, we brainstormed everything we already know about plants, and then watched a video to give us a little background information for our upcoming science unit about plant growth and changes.

In social studies today we found out what indigenous peoples used the buffalo for.  We were very interested in looking up pictures of the items made from the different parts of the animal.

In LA today we learned about prepositions, and then got to make our own word search using words we chose.

We worked on our assignments of Mathletics today.

We continued working on our cause and effect scenarios in Science.

We had Music today.

Happy Monday!

Today in LA we worked on writing paragraphs.  We got to choose if we wanted to write a summary paragraph or an opinion paragraph.  We have been working on this for weeks now, and today we got to show our skills off.

In math, we learned what happens when you multiply by a teens number.  14x5 is the same as (4x5) + (10x5).

In Science we thought about the cause and effect of different environmental scenarios.

We had PE with Ms. Sterne today

We had some time to catch up in LA and Math today.

This week our class has struggled with remaining on task.  This weekend, a discussion at home reminding students of their responsibilities at school would be appreciated.

We did curling in gym today.

 In LA today we worked on writing sentences that use both a verb (action word) and an adverb (word that describes the verb). We were also asked to edit our writing before we handed it in.

In math, we worked on making fractions from our 100 pixel pictures. Each square is 1/100 of the picture, and we needed to check what fraction each colour on our picture represented.

We had Music today.

This afternoon we completed a survey with Ms. Austin about our experience at school.
